University of Kansas InterX records 1972-1981

This collection consists of the records of InterX Corporation, which was started by Professor Takeru Higuchi in 1972 as a drug delivery company and subsequently was sold to Merck in 1981. The transfer of technology arising from government-funded research by assigning ownership of the intellectual property to the institution helped to facilitate the implementation of pharmaceutical and drug delivery concepts, serving as a link between academia and the drug industry. KU owned the intellectual property rights and the KU Endowment Association, the Department of Chemistry, and the School of Pharmacy owned some stock in the corporation.
